Dr. Puja Myles serves as a Steering Committee Member at Global South Open Health Education (GSOUTH), where she provides strategic leadership on research priorities, data-driven health systems strengthening, and the integration of rigorous epidemiological evidence into the organisation’s educational and policy initiatives. In this role, she supports GSOUTH’s mission to advance equitable, evidence-based public health practice across the Global South.

An accomplished public health specialist and epidemiologist, Dr. Myles brings extensive expertise in population health research, observational studies, and health data science. At GSOUTH, she contributes to shaping research direction, strengthening methodological rigor, and ensuring that programmes are grounded in high-quality, real-world evidence.

Dr. Myles is Director of the Clinical Practice Research Datalink at the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, where she leads one of the world’s most advanced real-world health data research services. She oversees multidisciplinary teams of researchers, clinicians, and data scientists working to generate large-scale health evidence that informs clinical research, regulatory decision-making, and public health policy.

Her career spans clinical practice, academia, and global health data innovation. She previously served as a public health academic at the University of Nottingham, with research focused on infectious disease epidemiology—particularly respiratory infections—and the application of epidemiological methods to real-world clinical data.

Widely recognised for advancing the use of real-world data in healthcare innovation and regulation, Dr. Myles has contributed to the development of synthetic health datasets and data-driven approaches for evaluating emerging medical technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare systems.

She is a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Public Health and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, reflecting her longstanding commitment to education, mentorship, and the development of future leaders in public health.

Through her role at GSOUTH, Dr. Myles helps ensure that the organisation’s programmes remain scientifically robust, data-driven, and responsive to the evolving challenges facing health systems worldwide.
